2017 Solar Eclipse

Holy Names students gathered to view the solar eclipse as it passed over the West Coast. The 75% totality was 0% viewable for most of the event. Fortunately, we were able to share in the total eclipse on the cafeteria's giant HD screen! (click headline for video link)

Holy Names kicked off the school year with an all-school Orientation and barbecue. Students, parents and faculty joined together on a beautifully sunny day to share stories of summer adventures and their excitement for the upcoming school year.

Welcome to all our students at Holy Names High School.

The Holy Names community kicked off the 17/18 school year with a night out at the A's game.  Hundreds of students, parents, faculty, alumnae, and friends packed into the Coliseum for a fun night of baseball.  It just so happens that this year's game was against our cross-bay rivals, the Giants.  Most HNHS families arrived in green and gold, with a few choosing orange and black.  Holy Names was the big winner, kicking off another school year with a fun evening out as a community.

A postcard from our students in Washington DC:

We just wanted to say hello from our Nations capital! We have visited some of the memorials, the new National Museum of African American History and Culture, and have attended several workshops where we learned about current bills being discussed, mock trials and many other exciting topics. Here is a picture of some of us this morning preparing for our meeting with a staffer from Congresswoman Barbara Lee's office.

Congrats to HNHS Volleyball

Congratulations to the HNHS Volleyball team for their most successful season in over 10 years! First year coach Tamika Henry led the Monarchs to the league playoffs as well as NCS playoffs - the highest competition in D6 Volleyball. Individual awards were also plentiful for the Monarchs. Diana Gonzales '18 led the way by being named 1st Team All-League for her outstanding play all season. Diana also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team for her post-season play. Ireland Clare Kennedy '17 was voted 2nd Team All League along with teammate Allison Wedman '18. Faye Ferris '18 was the fourth All-League Monarch, named as an honorable mention. With only two graduating Seniors, next year's team looks to be headed for success!
