Student Activities

Student Council

Leadership opportunities abound at HNHS. Student Government is presided over by the Associated Student Body Officers and is made up of class representatives elected by their classmates. These Monarchs make many of the HNHS campus activities possible including lunchtime celebrations, Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Month, sponsored assemblies, class competitions and Spirit Week.

Activities

There is always something exciting happening at Holy Names! The year begins with many welcome activities for the new freshwoman that encourage the class members to get to know one another and to have fun. The fall also marks the annual tradition of Rose Festival Week, celebrating our founder Blessed Marie Rose. Then at Halloween the whole school is in costume for a costume contest, games at lunchtime, and trick or treating at selected classrooms. The juniors have a chance to shine at the Junior Ring Ceremony and reception. In December, mothers and their senior daughters gather for the elegant Mother-Daughter Tea. The highlight of every school year is Spirit Week – spirited competition between the classes. Elaborate hall decorations, skits, dress-up contests and fundraising activities all are judged to see which class is the most spirited.

Assemblies

The weekly assemblies provide opportunities to recognize student accomplishments, to pray together, to celebrate, or to engage in class activities. At some assemblies students receive recognition of their academic, service, artistic or athletic achievement, while others are devoted to student body and class meetings or to motivational presentations.

Join a Club!

Each young woman Holy Names has the opportunity to lead, be vocal, and make a difference. Students take the initiative to create clubs on campus that represent their diverse interests. With this drive and direction, they are ready to succeed in college and beyond.
