September 2008 Newsletter

Welcome back sports fans!

This year the Athletic Department has created the I’m Committed motto for all HNHS athletes, coaches, staff, and families.  Show your Monarch spirit by being strong and committing to a team, to your coach, to the school, and to yourself!

I’d like to welcome our new head tennis coach, Reggie White.  Along with Sergio Gonzalez as his assistant.  The team will be practicing and hosting all of their home matches at Davies Tennis Stadium in Piedmont.  Our volleyball team has a new addition, Natasha Gayle, an alumna class of 2000.  She will be assisting our Varsity Coach, Marisol Guevara who is coaching for her fourth season and is also an alumna class of 2000.  Our Cross Country team is welcoming our very own HNHS computer/yearbook teacher, Jamison Jossis as the new assistant to Mike Frankfurt who has been coaching our lady monarchs for seven years.  Holy Names is proud to announce the start of a new Golf team. It has been talked about for many years, and with the help of Coach Tommy Scales it has become a reality.  Coach Scales comes to us from Lake Chabot Golf Course, assisting him is our HNHS PE/Health Teacher and alumna Alessandra Albrizzio, class of 2001.  We welcome all of our new coaches to our growing department and wish all the sports a fabulous, healthy year!

Reminder for all Winter and Spring Sports: All students wanting to participate in a HNHS sport must have a current physical and sports packet completed and turned in to the Athletic Department.  This must be done before any athlete is allowed to condition or try out for a sport.  Be prepared and commit to your sports teams!

I’m Committed

“It’s the best part of our day, going to tennis practice.”
