This course is open on a space available basis to students who have achieved excellence in English 10 Honors or English 10, and been recommended by their tenth grade English teachers. Students will complete regular eleventh grade work but will read in greater quantity and depth and do more extensive work in expository writing than students in English 11.
       By reading short stories, drama, poetry, and essays, students become familiar with the literary heritage of the United States. The focus continues to be given to the development of correct and effective expository essays and of a useful and scholarly vocabulary. In addition, students learn basic research skills through the preparation of a research paper.
