Assignment parameters follow:

Find a newspaper article that supports your view regarding the current US government’s success or failure to live up to Locke’s assertion that government must provide for the commonwealth of the people (i.e., that it must care for the people).

Clip the article and use it to back up your opinion about the government.  In the first of two paragraphs, summarize Locke’s view of why people come together and form civil society (1/2 page).  In the second paragraph link your clipped article to Locke’s concept of good government by answering the question, is the government fulfilling its duty to provide for the commonwealth of the people (1/2 page)?  Cite evidence from your article, and explain it in your own words.
