Dear Holy Names Community,
It is important that we all stand together in support of each other as we face the announced pending changes to DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Holy Names High School remains committed to the core SNJM values of social justice and service to others. We will continue to support our students and families facing uncertainty in all ways that we can. Students and families can rest assured that personal information shared with the school remains private. We consider our campus to be a sanctuary for education, ideas and expression. Providing a safe learning environment for all students is paramount and we will continue to support and nurture our community in the way that Mother Marie Rose has shown us.
We call upon the community of faculty, students, staff, alumnae and families to support and engage as Congress responds to their call to duty. As a campus we are all part of one family; may this moment help us remember our shared humanity. We urge all to pray that the legislative response reflects social justice as well as respect for those directly affected and our nation as a whole. We stand with all people who are affected by the DACA decision in and outside of our HNHS community.
We encourage our entire community to set an example for the young women that we serve and take action in an appropriate, effective manner. Please refer to the attached list of contacts and share your opinion by calling or writing your local legislators.
In this time of uncertainty, we stand together as one community. WE ARE HOLY NAMES!
